Mark Barry
Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) (B.Bus {Accy}) Chartered Accountant (CA – Financial Planning Specialist) Certified Financial Planner (CFP) After graduating from the Queensland University of Technology in 1976, Mark spent four years with Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) and Arthur Young & Co (now Ernst & Young), as a Chartered Accountant. In 1980, Mark joined Bain & Co (now Deutsche Financial Planning) and in 1984 established his own practice – Mark Barry & Company. Having already practiced Financial Planning for eight years, Mark co-founded Ellwood Barry McPherson Pty Ltd (EBM) in 1988. The business soon gained a reputation for high-level technical advice in superannuation, particularly self-managed superannuation. This paved the way for a growing Financial Planning division, which is now the primary activity of the business, and one for which EBM has an enviable reputation. Mark is well known in the Financial Planning profession for his ability to disseminate complex information in an easy to understand format. He has been actively involved in promoting higher standards of advice through his participation in the Brisbane Chapter of the Financial Planning Association of Australia. Mark is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia and a member and Financial Planning Specialist with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Mark has twice been named in the Personal Investor Top 50 Masterclass, awarded to outstanding Financial Planners across Australia.
