David graduated from the Queensland University of Technology and joined the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) in 1996. While at CBA, David gained valuable skills in all aspects of banking, including commercial credit and financial planning, and was one of the first staff in Australia to be selected as a Paraplanner.

Having gained considerable experience in financial services, David was recruited by Ellwood Barry McPherson Pty Ltd (EBM) in 2000 and began to develop and advise his own client base. He also graduated from Deakin University’s Diploma of Financial Planning during this time and was appointed a Director of the Firm in 2004.

David has been instrumental in developing EBM’s financial planning and investment philosophies. He has chaired industry committees and participated on numerous panels regarding advice and investment issues. David has also been invited to speak within the financial planning profession and by external groups, both within Australia and internationally.

David is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia and is progressing towards Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
